Community Involvement

The following is a list of some of the volunteer and service activities that we have participated in over the years. For many of these activities we were personally selected to volunteer and share our knowledge and experience.

1. Writer for Examiner.com, March 2012 – present

   We are extremely happy to announce that we were recently selected to monitor and write about local/newsworthy crime stories for Examiner.com in their Tampa Bay section. For anyone that is unfamiliar with Examiner.com, it is the “insider source for everything local.” Our posts will be under the name “St. Petersburg Crime Examiner” and will include hyperlinks back to Blake & Dorsten, P.A. website and blog.

2. Pinellas County Teen Court and Truancy Court Judge, January 2003 – January 2008.

   During our tenure at the State Attorney’s Office, we were a frequent Judge in both the Pinellas County Teen Court as well as the Pinellas County Truancy Court. Both Teen Court and Truancy Court are diversionary sentencing programs for juvenile offenders that have little or no criminal record. During these hearings, we were the Judge as the juvenile offender had his case heard before a jury of his peers (consisting of high school student volunteers). While guilt was not at issue, as the juvenile had to admit guilt prior to being approved for the program, the jury heard the juvenile offender’s case and fashioned a sentence that usually included some combination of: community service, restitution, curfew, mandatory school attendance and/or an essay or letter of apology.

3. Sponsor Celma Mastry- “Race for the Cure”, 2010-present.

   The Law offices of Blake & Dorsten, P.A. are proud to be a sponsor for the Celma Mastry’s annual race to benefit ovarian cancer. By both participating in the race and sponsoring financially, we get a chance to both “give back” and get in shape at the same time…

4. Sponsor, St. Pete High Green Devils Varsity Volleyball, 2011-present.
